On Easel Now

Sometimes a super fun project comes along – this one has returned periodically for several years now πŸ™‚

It started in 2017, when I was working as the courtesy shuttle driver for Bob Rohrman Toyota.  Absolutely fascinating job, kid you not – I felt like Oprah.  Everyone has a story, and that’s what I did all day long.  Drove around and listened to people’s stories.

During down time between errands, I started painting the portraits of the service people.  Then the sales team.

I’ve moved on to a different job, but I still return to update the faces now and then.  It helps customers remember who they were talking to – and, it’s a dab of art in an unexpected place.

So very gratifying when people are delighted :).

I’ve gone through phases of enjoying various kinds of art – sometimes more abstract, sometimes more classic.  Often “outsider” art, I agree with those who find it compelling.  Right now I’m turned off by things that look machine-perfect.   I like flaws and lumps, they’re human.

I also like painting clouds πŸ™‚
